Hi! My name is Catherine Parisio. I’m currently working as a freelance editor, but most of my career has been in education. I have 16 years experience teaching in classrooms spanning 5 countries and 4 continents. Although I taught all subjects to young students, I discovered a true passion for teaching writing, devoting countless hours in professional development focused on the foundational aspects of quality writing. I have a BA in Psychology from UC San Diego and a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from Portland State University.

I live with my husband and son in West Linn, Oregon. After spending most of the last two decades living abroad, we felt it was time to return home, at least for a while. I am taking a sabbatical from teaching in order to pursue other interests and explore alternate career options. In addition to my work as a freelance editor, I spend my time hiking, writing, running, reading, cooking, and creating photo books of all my family’s adventures.

Writing has been a pivotal part of my life since the day I wrote my first journal entry at the age of eight. Since that time, I have been producing, analyzing, and evaluating writing, both professionally and personally. This experience, coupled with my background as an educator, enables me to not only provide you with various levels of editing services, but to go one step beyond, highlighting your strengths as a writer and making simple suggestions that you can use to enhance your writing in the future.

I look forward to working with you!

Catherine
